Google AI Edge Eloquent for iOS is now available in the App Store. On April 7, 2026, Google quietly launched its AI dictation app called Google AI Edge Eloquent for iOS devices. The app is free to download from Apple’s App Store. Unlike other dictation apps, this one is released by a major tech company. The app works completely offline using Google’s local Gemma-based speech recognition models, offering unlimited and subscription-free use. Users can switch to cloud mode to utilize Gemini’s AI capabilities, which are also free for now. After downloading, users can open the app, hit record, and start talking for speech-to-text transcription. The app removes filler words like “ums” and “uhs” from the text and provides options to summarize or rewrite the transcription using AI. It has a history tab for previous transcriptions, allowing for searches and viewing session stats. Users can create a personal dictionary for unique words and names. An integrated iOS keyboard is coming soon, according to Google’s app description. The Google AI Edge Eloquent site is on the google.dev domain, indicating ongoing development. No Android version exists yet, but Google is considering other platforms, including desktop. Although the release of an AI dictation app is simpler compared to Google’s other AI work, it might be a result of the increasing demand and market interest in AI dictation. Alternatively, the app could serve as a future training data source.
