Google to Improve ‘Now Playing’ Functionality for Pixel Devices

A recent code finding suggests a minor, yet potentially significant, QoL enhancement on the way for Google’s Pixels.

Uncovered within the Android System Intelligence by the tipster AssembleDebug and Android Authority, it appears Google is developing a “manual” Now Playing button for its devices. It seems this “shortcut” won’t direct Pixel users to their Now Playing history. Rather, according to the tipster’s revelations, this button will be situated in the Quick Settings dropdown menu.

Once activated, the tipster claims users will be able to press this button to instantly start their Pixel’s song identification features. When active, the shortcut adopts the color of your Material You theme as an indicator of its use.
