Google’s Pixel 10 Teaser Showcases AI Photography Capabilities Before NYC Launch Event

The company’s AI is integrated throughout its devices and is set to enhance the ease of capturing memories.

Key points to note:
– Google has officially hinted at several AI-driven features for the Pixel 10 on X through a brief teaser clip.
– The video appears to highlight the series’ impressive telephoto abilities while also recalling the Pixel 9’s “Add Me.”
– Google reaffirms that its launch event is scheduled for August 20.

The time is almost here, and Google is intensifying its teasing of the Pixel 10 series with some clues about Gemini.

Today (Aug 15), Google shared a brief teaser clip on X, giving a quick glimpse of what users can look forward to from the Pixel 10 series. Once again, Google maintains its promotional slogan: “Ask more of your phone.” The teaser showcases its initial feature, which appears to focus on the phone’s telephoto lens. Google poses the question, “What if the camera could get super, super, super close” to your subject, even if you’re quite a distance away.

The teaser doesn’t delve deeper into that, but the clip transitions to a familiar feature we’ve witnessed tested during an I/O keynote.

The next inquiry raised is: “What if you could be in the group photo even if you took the group photo?” This naturally leads us to a rather convenient Google Pixel feature that was first introduced in 2024. Beyond these two teasers—and the outline of a Pixel 10—Google’s brief clip doesn’t provide much more information.

The company has reiterated that its event is set for August 20.

Google in NYC

Additionally, Google began revealing some more definitive details regarding its August 20 event for new Pixels. The company indicates it will feature a well-known cast at the Pixels event, including The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon. The Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, British racer Lando Norris, “and more” are hinted to be present at the Made by Google event.

The event is scheduled for August 20 at 1pm ET (10am PT).

It’s understandable AI

The group photo feature Google is hinting at is almost certainly “Add Me.” In 2024, following that year’s Made by Google event, the Pixel 9 became available for pre-orders, but not before we witnessed Add Me highlighted during the keynote. Android Central’s Jerry Hildenbrand aptly noted that Add Me is “AI that people can grasp.” The Pixel 9 can capture a group photo once, then allows the photographer to step into the frame and take another shot.

It subsequently utilizes its AI software to seamlessly blend those two images to a degree where it seems as though someone else captured the photo. Similar to a video game where a camera hovers on a string. While this feature feels like something we should have anticipated on the Pixel 10, it’s refreshing to see Google (in some way) acknowledge it.

Let’s also keep in mind the foldable, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which has recently seen some rumors emerge. Those reports emphasized the presence of Qi2 support and a possible delay in its market launch that consumers might need to consider.
