Trucking startup Harbinger has secured another customer with its flexible electric vehicle platform. This time, Frazer, a 70-year-old company, will use Harbinger’s chassis for emergency vehicles. Announced Wednesday, Frazer will build ambulances and larger mobile healthcare vehicles on Harbinger’s hybrid platform and become a client of its new energy storage business launched with Airstream. Harbinger’s flexible platform accommodates different needs with adjustable chassis, including range-extending combustion engines if necessary. CEO John Harris stated this platform has powered various vehicles, helping them raise over $300 million. Frazer CEO Laura Griffin emphasized the advantages of Harbinger’s hybrid powertrain in reducing costs and increasing uptime. Frazer will purchase Harbinger’s battery-based auxiliary power units for both hybrid and older combustion vehicles, replacing standard generators and providing power for medical devices without relying on vehicle engines. Harris expects significant growth from these units, seeing interest from other industries, particularly in California, to reduce generator use and emissions.
