Hugging Face, renowned for its AI software solutions, introduced the Reachy Mini, an open-source desktop robot, last year. Designed to deploy AI applications interfacing with the physical world, the robot includes a camera, four microphones, and a speaker, with a 6 DoF head, body rotation, and antenna movement facilitated by nine servo motors. There are two versions: the Reachy Mini Lite for Mac, Linux, and Windows computers, and the autonomous Reachy Mini Wireless, powered by a Raspberry Pi CM4, featuring WiFi, Bluetooth, an accelerometer, and battery support.

The Reachy Mini SDK, available on GitHub, is based on Python but also supports JavaScript and Web apps, facilitating integration with LLMs and app publication on Hugging Face. The SDK includes app samples like a Conversation App, Radio app, and a Hand Tracker app. A simulator can be run using the MuJoCo engine for those without hardware. The robot lacks legs or wheels, staying on the desktop, and allows camera, microphone, and speaker use for computer vision and voice interaction through LLMs with text-to-speech and voice recognition.
During pre-orders, Reachy Mini Lite was priced at $299, and the Reachy Mini at $449. They remain available at these prices on the official website and can also be purchased on AliExpress for $388.84 (Lite) and $699 (Wireless with Pi 4).
