Intel Core Ultra 200S+ Series

3 Min Read

This mid-generation update adds more E-cores and other improvements to the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200S Series Plus desktop processors, introducing the new Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus models available March 26th.

Intel Core Ultra CPUs

Intel introduced the Core processor brand in 2006, starting with mobile processors and later expanding to desktops. Eighteen years later, they revamped their mainstream CPUs with the Core™ Ultra branding, first appearing in laptops in 2024 and later in desktop CPUs as Core™ Ultra 200S Series.

At the top of this series are the K-SKU models, known for high clock speeds and strong performance. Intel is now bringing out new “Plus” versions of these models. These versions enhance the original Core™ Ultra 7 265K and Ultra 5 245K by adding 4 more E-cores, making other specification tweaks, and improving some architecture elements, resulting in the new Core™ Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus! There are also KF variants without onboard graphics but otherwise similar.

The 270K Plus now equals the Core Ultra 9 285K in core count, with only slightly lower max P-core clock speeds. It will be interesting to compare their performances once benchmark data is available.

What makes it more intriguing are the prices: $299 for the 270K Plus and $199 for the 250K Plus. They are much cheaper than their predecessors at launch, a welcome shift amid rising hardware prices everywhere else in the industry.

Both new models are set for release on March 26th, 2026. At Puget Systems, the Ultra 9 and Ultra 7 models were typically offered, so the 270K Plus may join our lineup, but the 250K Plus likely won’t.
