Apple’s Passwords app has transitioned into my primary password manager due to numerous enhancements in iOS 26. One notable feature I recently uncovered can alleviate the frustration of getting trapped in a forgotten password cycle.
### iOS 26 Introduces Hub for Newly Generated Passwords Not Fully Saved
Have you ever experienced Apple Passwords creating a new password that wasn’t saved properly? Occasionally a website fails at a critical moment, or employs processes that aren’t fully compatible with Apple Passwords. This has occurred several times since the inception of Apple Passwords, resulting in some annoyance.
The problem arises because the new password generated gets lost, leading to the inconvenience of a “Forgot your password?” cycle—waiting for a password reset email, establishing a new password, and hoping it saves correctly the second time around.
In iOS 26, Apple Passwords has introduced a new function that can assist. Now, when new passwords are generated in iOS but remain unsaved within the Passwords app, they can be located under a new menu option.
Located behind the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of Passwords, you’ll find a ‘Generated Passwords’ option. In earlier iterations of iOS 26, this option only appeared after a new password had recently been created. However, starting with iOS 26.4, Apple has begun displaying it consistently—but it remains grayed out unless there are recent passwords available for viewing.
When the ‘Generated Passwords’ menu is enabled, it reveals the website for which the password was created, how recently it was generated, and options to Save or Delete it. As stated in the in-app description, “Strong passwords created by your devices are stored here for 30 days. Save them to make them accessible for AutoFill across all your devices.”
If you opt to save the password, you’ll need to enter a username and other optional information to create a complete login entry within the app.
While it would be advantageous for Apple to enhance the menu’s visibility when something new has been generated—such as a small in-app badge in the top-right menu to indicate an unsaved new password—once you are aware of the feature, it can be invaluable the next time you are searching for a new password in the app.
