**The Remarkable Endurance of an iPhone 16 Pro: A Conservationist’s Unforeseen Journey**
We all experience that moment of panic when we drop our iPhone and rush to examine the glass for any cracks. Now, picture dropping your iPhone from an airplane. That was the case for conservationist Ashley Prange this past summer.
Prange was capturing video from within a small plane flying over Germany when her iPhone 16 Pro was abruptly yanked from her grip and out of the aircraft. It free-fell over 2,600 feet while the plane was cruising at 110 knots.
She thought that was the end of it. However, she accessed Find My and discovered the phone’s last detected location deep within a vast forest near her cousin’s residence in the Rhine Valley. With her credit card and driver’s license stored in the case, she believed the search was worthwhile.
Hours later, amidst the thick woods, she located it. The iPhone was completely unharmed. The screen was unblemished. It powered on without any issues. Prange credits its survival to a Bellroy wallet case and Apple’s exceptional construction of the iPhone 16 Pro.
In contrast, I can drop my AirPods from just three feet above the ground and almost lose both earbuds… impressive drop test, and what a unique way to capture skydiving footage without actually jumping!
