Would you purchase a console to experience the game everyone’s buzzing about? By Alex Perry on March 27, 2026.
“Pokémon Pokopia” isn’t Nintendo Switch 2’s first major success, but it’s the one making many feel left out without the console. With numerous fans showcasing exciting builds online, “Pokopia” is alluring for enthusiasts of “Animal Crossing,” “Minecraft,” and similar titles. Yet, the cost of the Nintendo Switch 2 is a consideration in today’s uncertain economic landscape. Should you purchase a Switch 2 for “Pokopia”?
Reasons to buy a Switch 2 for “Pokopia”:
The appeal of acquiring a Switch 2 for “Pokopia” is clear: the game is exceptional, and so is the console. If you enjoy “Pokopia,” the charm and personality of this Nintendo, Koei Tecmo, and Game Freak collaboration make it the best Pokémon game in years.
Moreover, Switch 2 can play games like “Mario Kart World,” “Donkey Kong Bananza,” “Pokémon Legends: Z-A,” and enhanced Switch 1 games. There’s an extensive library of third-party games available on the eShop as well. Although the Switch 2 may miss some high-profile AAA titles, it supports a broad array of worthwhile games that will eventually reach Nintendo’s console.
Speculation also suggests new arrivals like “Star Fox” and a remake of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” in 2026, potentially enriching the Switch 2 lineup by year’s end.
Reasons not to buy a Switch 2 for “Pokopia”:
Alternatively, the downside is the steep cost involved, especially given the challenging economic times. With Switch 2 costing $450 and “Pokopia” at $70, holding onto $520 is understandable if you’re only interested in “Pokopia” and not the other games available.
At the end of the day, while gaming is wonderful, it’s only one aspect of life. Whatever decision you make, there’s no wrong choice.
