Is Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold Reaching Its Conclusion?

1 Min Read

Samsung’s pioneering tri-folding phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, might be phased out soon. According to a recent report from Korean outlet Donga, Samsung plans to halt TriFold sales in Korea just three months post-launch. In the U.S., sales will continue only until the existing stock is sold out. Though the TriFold was a unique and successful device, garnering praise for its impressive display and innovation, its high production costs resulted in unprofitability, even with a steep price tag of $2,899. The increased costs of parts, such as memory chips, contributed to the financial challenge. Industry insiders suggest the TriFold was more of a tech demonstrator rather than a significant revenue generator for Samsung. It remains uncertain if Samsung will release another tri-folding device or incorporate its technology into future foldable models. New iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip are anticipated next summer, alongside rumors of a “Wide” Galaxy Z Fold version.
