Key Information on Honor’s Speculated Magic 8 ‘Ultra’ Uncovered in International Certification

It appears that Honor is gearing up for the next major release in its latest series. Speculation is rising that Honor is working on a Magic 8 “Ultra,” as informants on Chinese social media have observed its certification. The device might feature 120W wired charging capabilities alongside satellite connectivity, an updated “imaging system,” and enhancements to the main camera. The Magic 8 series debuted in October, introducing a base model and a Pro model equipped with a 50MP main lens and an innovative Magic Color engine.

Honor seems poised to incorporate Tiantong Satellite capabilities into the 8 Ultra, a technology already seen in other Chinese OEMs. Further rumors have emerged, with a Weibo leaker, Smart Pikachu, suggesting that Honor is enhancing the Ultra variant by upgrading the phone’s “materials.” There are indications that Honor is also placing an emphasis on the Ultra’s photography, introducing a “new imaging system” and main camera.

The tipsters have not provided a potential launch date, but it is anticipated (according to DCS) that a price increase may be forthcoming for the Ultra variant.

Honor’s Magic 8 series was just released in October, which included a Magic 8 and a Magic 8 Pro. The OEM highlighted the Pro model significantly, emphasizing its efforts to further integrate the human and machine experience within the handheld. The complete series, however, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, delivering speed and the necessary support for its YOYO AI software.

The Magic 8 Pro already comes with the new Magic Color engine for a more “professional” film-like finish for user photos. This is complemented by its 50MP primary lens with OIS (optical image stabilization), a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP telephoto lens. Rumors indicate a “main camera upgrade” for the Magic 8 Ultra, although the specifics remain uncertain.

We might expect either a change in megapixels or potentially some new software/hardware enhancements under the hood.

More notably, in China, the Magic 8 Pro began at approximately ~$798. A rumored price elevation for the Ultra might bring us closer to ~$1,000.
