Kia unveiled at the New York International Auto Show that its compact electric SUV, the EV3, will hit the US market “in late 2026.” Having been available internationally since 2024, the model retains its slightly boxy design, though the latest iteration features a redesigned center console, replacing the criticized “chopping board” armrest, along with a new glossy black “Nightfall” appearance package for North America.

The EV3 comes in standard and long-range versions, with ranges of 220 and 320 miles per charge, respectively. Models equipped with a long-range battery can also opt for all-wheel drive. Kia claims the EV3’s DC fast charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 minutes for standard range and 31 minutes for long range.

A notable feature of the EV3 is Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0, allowing drivers to manage speed solely with the accelerator pedal, which can be toggled via steering wheel shifters. The interior boasts a panoramic dash display incorporating dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate display.

Moreover, the EV3 supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Home (V2H) functions, enabling the SUV to power various devices and even parts of a home. Using a Wallbox bidirectional charging system, V2H can also serve as a backup power source during outages.

Pricing details for the US version will be disclosed closer to its launch, aiming to remain affordable despite challenges posed by the removal of electric vehicle tax credits, impacting affordability since its initial announcement in 2023.
