The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept showcases dual innovations. This modular ThinkBook concept by Lenovo for MWC 2026 features two screens. It’s officially named the ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept, highlighting a 14-inch productivity device with two interchangeable ports and a detachable 14-inch second display on the rear lid. The screen can stand alone via a magnetic kickstand, connected through USB-C.
Moreover, users can swap the keyboard/trackpad for the second screen, transforming it into a dual-screen laptop controlled via Bluetooth, resembling the Asus Zenbook Duo.
The modular ports captivated me initially. Options shown include USB-C, USB-A, and HDMI—though not as extensive as Framework’s ecosystem. Despite this, it might be a promising beginning if launched. Differently from Framework, Lenovo’s ports connect via M.2 instead of USB-C, but they are notably easy to handle. A compact carry case was also displayed for transporting spare ports. Besides its modularity, the device includes one fixed USB-C port for charging and connecting the extra monitor.
While interesting, Lenovo’s commitment to second-screen features adds further intrigue. Both screens are touch-enabled OLEDs, boasting 16:10 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rates, and 500 nits brightness. Intended specs include an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H Arrow Lake processor, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
The future of this concept in production remains uncertain, largely due to its power source. With only a 33Wh battery powering its high-res OLEDs, there are concerns about battery life. Its current design weighs 2.54 pounds (1.15kg) for a single screen and 3.11 pounds (1.41kg) for dual screens. A larger battery or efficient processor could change everything.
Even without the additional OLED, the customizable ports make this concept intriguing.
