Lucid Motors Recalls Over 4,000 Gravity SUVs Due to Improperly Welded Seat Belts

Lucid Motors has largely addressed its initial quality issues with the Gravity SUV’s hardware and software, yet challenges remain: the company has issued a recall for over 4,000 Gravity SUVs due to a seat belt issue.

During unrelated safety testing in January, Lucid Motors informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it found some anchors for the SUV’s second-row seat belts were improperly welded, increasing the risk of seat belts failing in a collision.

The problem was attributed to Lucid Motors’ seat supplier changing its manufacturing process “without notice to or approval by Lucid.” The supplier has resumed following Lucid Motors’ original design specifications, and only Gravity SUVs manufactured before February 14, 2026, are impacted.

The automaker will need to inspect all Gravity SUVs affected by the recall and either install a bracket or replace the seat, depending on the weld’s quality.
