The new Xbox boss, Asha Sharma, revealed “Project Helix” as the codename for the next-generation Xbox console, marking one of her first major announcements. This upcoming console will support both Xbox and PC games. Sharma emphasized Microsoft’s dedication to Xbox’s revival and mentioned her excitement about discussing Project Helix with partners and studios at the upcoming GDC. The Xbox account also confirmed this codename on X. The next Xbox is expected to blend console and PC experiences, as noted by former Xbox president Sarah Bond, who described it as a premium and high-end curated experience. In her initial memo, Sharma emphasized a renewed commitment to Xbox and acknowledged the evolving gaming landscape across diverse devices. Sharma, however, is aware of fans’ concerns over the scarcity of Xbox exclusives. While a specific launch date for Project Helix hasn’t been revealed, AMD hinted at readiness for a 2027 launch. At the GDC Festival of Gaming, Xbox’s VP Jason Ronald will discuss future plans for Xbox, potentially revealing more about Helix. This continuation of naming conventions follows past codenames like Project Scorpio and Project Scarlett, which led to Xbox One X and Xbox Series X, respectively.
