After launching its AI assistant on the Xbox mobile app, Windows 11, and the Xbox Ally, Microsoft is set to introduce it to the Xbox console. Xbox’s Gaming Copilot AI assistant will soon arrive on “current-generation consoles” this year, as reported by GamesRadar. Sonali Yadav, Xbox’s product manager for gaming AI, announced this at the Game Developers Conference, mentioning plans to extend the assistant to more player services.
Microsoft has been developing its gaming-oriented Copilot assistant over the past months, initially releasing it in beta on the Xbox mobile app, Windows 11, and Xbox Ally handhelds. Players can use voice commands to get help from Gaming Copilot, which provides suggestions for overcoming in-game challenges and answers about a player’s gaming history. It also gives tips, strategies, and game recommendations. Xbox shared examples where players could ask Gaming Copilot how to defeat a specific boss or what materials are necessary to craft a sword in Minecraft.
While Yadav didn’t specify which consoles will feature Copilot, the current lineup includes the Xbox Series X | S. Additionally, the company is developing Project Helix Xbox, its first major release in years since former Xbox chief Phil Spencer’s departure. Asha Sharma, the former head of AI development for Microsoft’s enterprise teams, became CEO of Microsoft Gaming in February, following the exit of former Xbox president Sarah Bond. Project Helix, anticipated to reach alpha by 2027, will also support PC games.
