It’s an exciting time for Minecraft enthusiasts. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios revealed plans for Minecraft World, a £50 million ($66.7 million) theme park at Chessington World of Adventures near London, set to open in 2027. This will be the first fully immersive Minecraft theme park experience, surprising many given Minecraft’s status as the best-selling video game of all time.
The park will feature a world-first Minecraft roller coaster, interactive attractions, block-built play areas, and themed dining and retail. According to Merlin, Minecraft World is among their most ambitious theme park projects, developed closely with Mojang for authenticity. Notable Minecraft creators are also helping bring the universe to life.
For those planning a visit, Chessington is about 35 minutes from London Waterloo by direct train.
In game news, Mojang’s Minecraft Live March 2026 presentation revealed two forthcoming updates. The Tiny Takeover update, arriving March 24, revamps nearly every baby mob with new models, sound effects, and distinct sound personalities for farm animals. The new Golden Dandelion item allows players to keep any mob in its baby form permanently.
Later in the year, Chaos Cubed will introduce sulfur caves, toxic biomes with gases that have harmful effects, along with a new mob, the sulfur cube, which absorbs materials and adjusts its properties accordingly.
