Introduction

Over the years, we’ve published various articles about the reliability of components used in our workstations and servers. While the focus has shifted over time, as we conclude 2025, we’d like to highlight specific hardware brands and models that proved exceptionally reliable over the last year.

Our Data Source

The information we present is based on Puget Systems’ experience and doesn’t cover the entire computer hardware industry. We have a detailed qualification process for new hardware and review RMA records consistently. This ensures that our failure rates are often lower than the industry standard.

However, our strict hardware standards can result in higher recorded failure rates than industry averages. Additionally, our internal records have limitations regarding failure data, affecting how we frame this article. We focus on components used in our builds during 2025, primarily desktop and rackmount workstations, with limited data from laptops and servers.

CPU (Processor)

Intel’s Xeon W-2500 and W-3500 processors outperformed AMD’s Threadripper™ in reliability for 2025. Not one Intel processor we sold failed in 2025, highlighting their reliability compared to AMD’s offerings.

Most Reliable Workstation Processors of 2026

No Intel Xeon W-2500 or W-3500 sold in 2025 had failures, showing their reliability in the initial years of usage.
