
Lenovo and Motorola have unveiled Qira, an innovative AI created to seamlessly connect across a range of devices, boosting user experience through continuous and personalized interactions. Unlike conventional AI assistants that are limited to individual devices, Qira functions at the system level, guaranteeing a unified experience across PCs, tablets, smartphones, and wearables. This advancement, referred to as personal ambient intelligence by Lenovo, enables Qira to learn user behaviors, comprehend context, and assist with tasks without the need for constant user oversight.
Qira’s functionalities are founded on three fundamental principles: presence, actions, and perception. It can recommend next steps, coordinate tasks across different apps and devices, and maintain a holistic view of a user’s digital existence while safeguarding privacy. Most processing occurs locally on the device, with cloud support ensuring that privacy is prioritized.
The AI is set to launch on select Lenovo devices in early 2026, with later support for Motorola smartphones through over-the-air updates. Current Lenovo AI Now users will transition effortlessly to Qira, with intentions to broaden support to additional devices over time.
Motorola is also investigating future opportunities with Project Maxwell, a prototype wearable AI assistant. This hands-free gadget is designed to be acutely aware of its environment, providing insights into the potential growth of Qira. Project Maxwell aims to streamline tasks by merging audio and visual information, enabling users to engage with their surroundings without disruption.
Although Project Maxwell is still in conceptual stages, it underscores Motorola’s vision for the future capabilities of Qira. As Qira is introduced, it promises to transform how users engage with technology, offering a more intuitive and integrated digital experience.
