Netflix confirms it’s raising prices again

Netflix has once more increased its subscription prices quietly. The streaming service’s cheapest ad-supported plan is now $8.99 per month, increased from the previous $7.99 monthly fee, as confirmed to TechCrunch via email by Netflix.

The standard ad-free plan now costs $19.99 per month, up by $2 from the earlier $17.99, while the premium plan also sees a $2 rise to $26.99 per month.

Adding extra viewers outside your household has also become pricier. Adding a user to an ad-supported plan is now $6.99 instead of $7.99. For an ad-free plan, adding an extra viewer now costs $9.99, up from $8.99.

Netflix mentioned to TechCrunch that these changes are meant to enhance its “wide range of entertainment” and service quality.

Android Authority was the first to report these price changes.

New members subscribing will encounter the new prices from March 26, while existing subscribers will see updates in the coming months. Current members will receive an email notification a month before the new prices apply.

The last increase was in January 2025. Since then, Netflix added new features, like video podcasts and more livestream content. The company recently announced plans to redesign its mobile app and expand its short-form video capability.

The increases come after Netflix withdrew from a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery last month.

Warner Bros. Discovery had revealed that Paramount Skydance’s $31 per share offer was a “superior proposal” and gave Netflix four business days to counter. Netflix ultimately decided not to increase its $82.7 billion all-cash bid, eventually dropping the deal.
