Reddit and YouTube have reported that their third-party docks ceased functioning following the installation of the latest system update, Version 21.0.0.
The exact reason behind this update crippling the docks remains uncertain, as Nintendo has not divulged specific details regarding the issue. Nonetheless, there is speculation that Nintendo may have either intentionally or unintentionally altered the USB-C standard on the console with the new update, which could be the root of the problem.
The silver lining is that Nintendo Switch 2 consoles that have not yet updated to Version 21.0.0 should remain unaffected by the bricking. However, given that Nintendo does not allow users to delay updates for long when connected to the internet, it is likely that you have only a brief window before they compel you to update. It’s also important to mention that some users assert that restarting the Switch 2 console multiple times appears to resolve the issue, enabling the dock to function once more.
