Nordic Semiconductors unveiled the nRF93M1 LTE Cat 1bis IoT modules at Mobile World Congress 2026, offering up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink speeds, along with integrated Wi-Fi location capabilities.

The company will offer two variants: the nRF93M1-LABA, which supports LTE bands for regions like Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and the nRF93M1-LACA that supports a broader range of LTE bands and certifications for global deployments.

Details of the Nordic Semi nRF93M1 :

  • LTE Cat-1bis modem supporting 3GPP Rel. 14
  • Support for LTE FDD and TDD bands from 617-2690 MHz
  • Power Class 3 (23 dBm)
  • Compatible with (e)UICC/eSIM (SGP.32 IoT) and Software SIM (SoftSIM) frameworks
  • Data rates – Up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink
  • Peripherals – High-speed USB, UART, IOs, coexistence interface, etc.
  • Secure firmware updates via the nRF Cloud
  • Location capabilities through Wi-Fi scanning and cellular eCID location
  • Power-saving options – eDRX, PSM, and proprietary Nordic optimizations
  • Certified for both global and regional operations (GCF, PTCRB)

The nRF Cloud will come pre-configured with low-power location services, modem visibility, and OTA firmware updates handled through AT commands via UART or USB.
