What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT’s new daily word game launched in association with The Athletic, the sports coverage outlet owned by the New York Times. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group four words with something in common.

Each puzzle contains 16 words, organized into four categories. These groups could be anything from book titles, software, or country names. While multiple words may seem connected, only one answer is correct.

Getting all four words right in a set removes them from the board. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players can shuffle the board to spot connections easily. Each group is color-coded: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share results on social media.
