The court granted a partial victory to OpenAI in its legal dispute with Elon Musk. On Tuesday, OpenAI successfully moved to dismiss a lawsuit filed by xAI, which included accusations of employee poaching and trade secret theft. US District Judge Rita F. Lin stated that xAI failed to show any misconduct by OpenAI, only highlighting the departure of former xAI employees to OpenAI. The judge noted allegations regarding ex-employees’ actions did not implicate OpenAI. Musk, who leads xAI and is a former OpenAI co-founder, has been in ongoing legal conflicts with OpenAI. This case is among several legal battles between Musk and OpenAI, with a significant lawsuit over OpenAI’s structural change to a for-profit entity set for trial in April. OpenAI, in a post, expressed approval of the court’s decision, dismissing the lawsuit as unfounded and part of Musk’s alleged harassment campaign. xAI did not comment on the ruling.
