The well-known Opera One browser is enhancing its collaboration with Spotify, as both entities joined forces to develop a browser theme that grooves to users’ music. With a Winamp-inspired feel, whenever you play your favorite tracks, the browser’s backdrop transforms to reveal the fresh Sonic theme, employing shader technology to produce these animated waves.
“Users enjoy listening to music while surfing the web, and Opera remains the sole prominent web browser featuring an integrated Music Player that provides an exceptional experience,” stated Mohamed Salah Mourad, Senior Director of Product at Opera. “Now we’re elevating it with a visual theme that reacts to your music.”
This functionality arrives a few months after Opera One introduced built-in translation options in its browser, alongside other features such as the Split Screen capability that enables easy access to toolbars by allowing users to open Pinboards, Snapshot tool, Flow, Bookmarks, Downloads, and more.
Here’s how to activate Opera’s new Sonic theme:
To enable the new Sonic theme, users need to choose it from Opera’s theme gallery. Once selected, it presents itself as an animation on Opera’s Start page that responds to a user’s music. Opera recommends that users utilize the sidebar Music Player and witness the shift to this sound wave effect on a fine layer of sand.
The company indicates that Sonic is exclusively available in dark mode, but users can modify its animations with different colors, allowing them to be vibrant and colorful for ’80s pop hits, or a more muted appearance for specific playlists.
Opera’s Sonic theme is merely one of several other animated alternatives available within Opera One. Users can opt for additional choices that feature animated backgrounds, UI colors, browser sounds, and more to personalize the appearance and ambiance of their browser. Recently, Opera commenced the rollout of access to its innovative agentic browser Neon.
