Oura announced the launch of its first proprietary AI model, designed to enable its AI chatbot, Oura Advisor, to offer personalized insights focused on women’s health, spanning the entire reproductive health spectrum from early menstrual cycles to menopause.
The model is being introduced in Oura Labs, an experimental feature hub within the Oura app.
This model leverages established medical standards, research, and information reviewed by Oura’s board-certified clinicians and women’s health specialists. It combines biometric signals and long-term trends to provide tailored guidance.
As people increasingly use AI chatbots for health information, from cycle changes to perimenopause symptoms, Oura emphasizes the need for models specifically crafted for women.
Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, Oura’s chief medical officer, stated in a press release that this custom model represents a fundamental change in deploying AI responsibly in healthcare, addressing the complexity of women’s health beyond one-size-fits-all solutions.
Oura’s introduction of this AI model follows a statement by the company’s chief commercial officer, Dorothy Kilroy, highlighting that women in their early twenties are Oura’s fastest-growing user segment.
When users ask Oura Advisor a question about women’s health, the chatbot consults its research sources and evaluates the user’s biometric data, including sleep, activity, cycle and pregnancy details, stress, and more.
The model is designed to be supportive and reassuring, but not as a replacement for doctor visits, as it shouldn’t be used for diagnosis or treatment planning.
Oura assures that the model runs on its own infrastructure, keeping conversations private and unsold.
To access the model, users can opt into Oura Labs via the app’s drop-down menu.
