Apple Arcade’s April Collection Features Two Critically Acclaimed Indie Titles

Apple Arcade’s lineup for April will present three new titles to the gaming subscription platform, which feature some of the most celebrated indie games from recent years.

### Indie Highlights Arriving on Apple Arcade

Commencing April 2, Apple Arcade will add DREDGE+, Unpacking+, and My Very Hungry Caterpillar+. Both DREDGE and Unpacking have become indie sensations, gaining significant popularity outside of Apple Arcade.

Apple has announced that DREDGE+ will offer all available DLC content when it launches on Arcade next month:

> DREDGE+ delivers the complete edition of the celebrated fishing adventure to Apple Arcade. This version encompasses all available DLC content: The Pale Reach, The Iron Rig, Blackstone Key, and the custom rod. Players will embark on the full scope of this eerie maritime journey as they explore misty archipelagos, retrieve treasures from the deep, and unveil secrets hidden beneath the water’s surface.

On the other hand, Unpacking+, which represents the fully unlocked variant of a game that has captivated many, is yet another indie gem joining Arcade:

> Celebrated as a Cultural Impact winner at the 2023 App Store Awards, Unpacking+ is a serene puzzle game centered around the relatable task of unpacking belongings from boxes and arranging them in a new setting. Combining block-fitting puzzles and home decoration, Unpacking+ encourages Arcade users to craft a pleasing living area while discovering hints about the life they are assembling.

Thirdly, we have the beloved character, My Very Hungry Caterpillar+, set to crawl onto Arcade this April:

> Inspired by the character adored by millions, the multi-award-winning and App Store “Best of” My Very Hungry Caterpillar+ allows players to nurture their very own pet caterpillar. As players feed, engage, and explore its environment, the caterpillar grows larger, unlocking new activities, culminating in spinning a cocoon and evolving into a stunning butterfly. It brings Carle’s timeless tale to life in a charming and interactive experience for the entire family to relish.

Additionally, Apple underscores a Star Wars-themed update for Disney SpellStruck debuting on March 19, and the Puyo Puyo Garden mode launching in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop on April 9.

Apple Arcade is offered, free of ads and in-app purchases, for $6.99/month after a one-month complimentary trial. A single subscription allows access for up to five users through Family Sharing.

Apple Improves Widget Capabilities with Innovative Smart Features

**Apple Invites App Update: Improved Countdown Widget Functionality**

Apple has recently launched an update for its Invites app, version 1.7, which features a substantial enhancement to the countdown widget functionality. This upgrade enables users to monitor upcoming events more effectively, enhancing the app’s utility for planning and organization.

The key highlight of this update is the newly introduced “Next Upcoming” option for the countdown widget. This functionality automatically counts down to the nearest upcoming event, refreshing in real-time as each event transpires. Consequently, users are spared the need to manually modify their countdowns for each event, as the widget will effortlessly shift to the subsequent item on the list.

Moreover, in addition to the automatic countdown feature, users maintain the ability to configure the widget for manual countdowns to particular events. This adaptability allows users to tailor their experience according to their specific needs and preferences.

The countdown widget was first launched in August 2025, and this most recent update incorporates a layer of versatility with its auto-pilot capability. Apple Invites, which was introduced as an iCloud+ feature in February 2025, continues to be exclusive to iPhone users. Throughout the previous year, the app has experienced a range of feature enhancements and content updates, reinforcing its status as a valuable instrument for managing electronic invitations.

Users can obtain the latest version of Apple Invites from the App Store to leverage these new features and enhance their event planning experience.

Seven Unique Technology Trends That Vanished

Meta continues to attempt to reintroduce this feature.

Naturally, nothing truly disappears from the internet, and you might even find some of these tucked away in your drawer; however, technology loses its trendiness when it exits the public’s awareness, news coverage ceases, and initiatives are quietly terminated or assigned to obscure fan sites.

“Renowned Director of ‘Alien’ Created a Remarkable yet Fleeting HBO Sci-Fi Show”

Director Ridley Scott is likely best recognized for his “Alien” series, which cleverly employed some inventive visual techniques to enhance the realism of its universe. Others might identify him as the mastermind behind the contemporary historical action rendition of “Robin Hood” featuring Russell Crowe, or the legendary “Gladiator” and “Blade Runner” films. More recently, he was also the creative force behind a science fiction series entitled “Raised by Wolves,” which was unfortunately canceled far too early — after a mere two seasons. Even worse, the second season concludes with numerous unresolved questions and, based on all indications, it appeared to have been practically designed for a third season renewal. Instead, it was abruptly canceled despite receiving favorable reviews.

The cancellation stemmed mainly from studio politics, particularly the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, which triggered significant upheaval among associated streaming platforms like HBO Max. A widespread effort to cut debt likely contributed to the show’s end. It’s a pity, as the series boasts outstanding reviews and ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. 81% of critics have awarded it a positive rating, along with 82% of users, which is quite remarkable and underscores the show’s distinctive content and sophisticated narrative. The plot remains engaging throughout, making it a highly proficient series that pays off for viewers — a rarity these days, even amidst the extensive array of streaming series and film releases.

The story centers around two androids, Father and Mother, tasked with raising human children on a distant planet known as Kepler-22b. While that basic premise hardly captures the show’s depth, the intricate relationships, the choices made by the androids, and the experiences of the entire colony form the core of the main storyline. It becomes apparent that, even for androids, raising human offspring is anything but straightforward.

What are the viewers saying about the series, and is it still worth tuning in?

The Rotten Tomatoes ratings are favorable, and the IMDb feedback is equally enthusiastic. The show currently holds a rating of 7.4 out of 10 stars, based on over 90,000 reviews. Many viewers have expressed their disappointment over the cancellation, and for valid reasons, declaring “this story must be told,” and expressing disbelief over its cancellation. Some have even implored, “please we need a season 3!” As for the substance, audiences are also positive about it, claiming it’s “original” in an era filled with remakes and redundant narratives, that it’s a “great sci-fi,” and that it’s an absolute “feast for cerebral sci-fi enthusiasts.”

Of course, it’s not all accolades. There are some critiques indicating that it’s “all over the place” or “bonkers.” However, the undeniable truth remains that it’s distinctive, and there’s something uniquely worthwhile for everyone to experience, if they so desire.

The query then arises — is it worth watching knowing there won’t be a season 3 and that a continuation is unlikely? That ultimately depends on whether you accept the notion that the journey itself outweighs the resolution. Can you appreciate a series that ends with lingering questions while relishing the moments that unfolded? If your answer is yes, give it a try. You might be surprised by what unfolds. There are indeed several exceptional sci-fi series that faced cancellation before they could wrap up their narratives. They’re still noteworthy, even with their premature endings.
