Edra, a New York-based startup, claims to aid companies in automating workflows by transforming their existing operational data into a dynamic knowledge base. Recently, it received significant support: a $30 million Series A funding led by Sequoia, with involvement from 8VC and A*, a venture firm founded by serial entrepreneur Kevin Hartz.
The founders, Eugen Alpeza and Yannis Karamanlakis, deserve attention. They met 13 years ago at university and later worked at Palantir before launching Edra. Alpeza led major commercial accounts and the launch of Palantir’s AI Platform, while Karamanlakis was the first Forward Deployed AI Engineer, focusing on deploying AI models into real-world production.
The problem they address is clear. Companies have a wealth of operational data—emails, logs, support tickets, chat histories—but lack effective ways to utilize it. Edra automates the analysis of this data, builds a knowledge base, and keeps it updated. Current applications are focused on IT service management and customer support, with existing customers such as HubSpot, ASOS, Cushman & Wakefield, and easyJet.
