The next mainline games in the franchise will be exclusive to the Switch 2.
The new generation of mainline Pokémon games is set to be released, marking a farewell to the Paldea region.
During the recent Pokémon Presents stream, Nintendo unveiled Pokémon Wind and Waves, the forthcoming installments in the core series, launching in 2027 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The trailer introduced a new trio of starter Pokémon — Browt, Pombon, and Gecua — along with various environments to explore.
Set in an island location, Wind and Waves showcase more detailed and complex environments than previous titles like Scarlet/Violet and Legends: Z-A. Players will explore dense jungles, magma-filled caves, and underwater areas with wild Pokémon encounters. Nintendo announced that Wind and Waves will be open-world and will support Brazilian Portuguese.
Although 2027 is some time away, Winds and Waves promise to be worth the anticipation. Additionally, with Pokopia releasing next week, there will be plenty to engage Pokémon fans in the meantime.
