Apple TV+ has paused production on its forthcoming untitled “brothers” comedy featuring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. This halt took place late last week, resulting in the cast being sent home due to creative disagreements concerning the season’s finale, following the exit of showrunner David West Read.
Out of the proposed ten episodes, eight have already been shot, but Apple and Skydance Television are currently in talks with Lee Eisenberg to manage the last two episodes and possible reshoots. The series, characterized as a heartfelt, odd-couple-style comedy, depicts McConaughey and Harrelson as their families attempt to coexist on McConaughey’s Texas ranch, showcasing their eccentric friendship.
The shift in creative leadership is particularly significant considering the show draws inspiration from the genuine relationship between the two actors, who also act as executive producers. There is no established timeline for when production will restart, as the new showrunner will require time to realign the creative vision. Apple and Skydance have yet to provide comments regarding the matter.
Apple TV+ is offered at $9.99 per month and includes popular series such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and more.
