Prototype of Pixel 10 Allegedly Surfaces on Chinese Auction Platform

It’s an unexpected contender, but it could have reinforced a prior speculation.

What you need to understand:
– Unexpectedly, a purported Pixel 10 prototype emerged on a Chinese auction platform.
– The device in question showcases a design quite similar to what has been suggested in leaked visuals, featuring a consistent Pixel 9 aesthetic and an additional camera lens.
– Earlier speculations suggested that the standard Pixel 10 would include a third lens (telephoto), along with an upgrade to the PWM dimming rate for its display.

Did anyone anticipate this on their leak bingo card? One of Google’s allegedly early Pixel 10 prototypes reportedly showed up on an unanticipated site abroad.

A post by 9to5Google draws attention to the supposed emergence of a Pixel 10 prototype on a Chinese auction website. The machine-translated description indicates that the seller is offering the motherboard of the device, which resembles what has been previously leaked. The alleged Pixel 10 continues to exhibit those rounded corners and flat edges, much like Google’s prior generation.

The rear, which highlights its prototype characteristic, showcases the “G” logo and a horizontal camera protrusion with an additional lens. The image of the motherboard features a prominent “G5,” likely signifying the anticipated Tensor G5 SoC of the phone.

There appear to be three lenses situated within the Pixel 10’s camera module along with its LED flash. The Chinese seller claims this device is in its EVT stage, which the outlet notes refers to the “final stage” ahead of mass production for the market. However, 9to5 noticed an anomaly, particularly the phone’s fastboot mode display stating DVT (Design Validation Test) instead of the seller’s claimed EVT stage.

An Earlier Pixel 10?

The series of Pixel 10 leaks concerning its camera enhancement began in March when a set of renders revealed it with three lenses instead of two. Alongside the seemingly identical design to the Pixel 9, there was speculation that this third lens would align the base model more closely with its Pro and Pro XL counterparts. In June, a report surfaced suggesting that the Pixel 10 would incorporate a telephoto lens addition. It appears that Google will retain the ultrawide macros, bringing the total number of lenses to three.

An exclusive report from Android Central’s Nicholas Sutrich indicates that the Pixel 10 could undergo a significant display enhancement: improved PWM dimming rate. While Google didn’t elaborate, a representative informed us that “their (Google) teams are mindful and examining this. You can anticipate updates later this year.”

Just this week, a rumor emerged regarding the Pixel 10 series’ color options and storage capacities. While the base model is said to peak at 256GB, the Pro, Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold are expected to reach 1TB.

We may not have to wait too much longer, as Google is rumored to hold its next Made by Google launch event on August 20, 2025.
