Raspberry Pi 4 3GB Debuts at $83.75, Price Hikes for 4GB+ RAM Models Announced

2 Min Read

The Raspberry Pi 4 featuring 3GB RAM is a surprising yet real development, now available for $83.75. Raspberry Pi has further announced another price hike for Raspberry Pi 4/5/CM4/CM5 due to a significant rise in LPDDR4 DRAM prices, which have surged seven times over the past year.

The 3GB version likely uses the Raspberry Pi 4 dual RAM PCB variant introduced last month, incorporating two 1.5GB LPDDR4 chips. Despite sounding unusual, this setup is genuine, as verified on the product page and by resellers like Robu in India and RaspberryPi.dk. It’s not the first single-board computer with 3GB RAM, as the Orange Pi 4 LTS had similar specifications since 2022.

Additionally, another round of price increases for various SBCs, keyboard PCs, compute modules, and AI HAT+ 2 was announced, detailed in the accompanying table.

Price hikes have been outlined, showing increased costs even before taxes and shipping. Meanwhile, Raspberry Pi 4/5 1GB models remain at $35 and $45, with 2GB models at $55/$65. While competing brands may also feel the impact of rising RAM costs, some resellers have yet to update prices, providing a short window for purchases at previous rates.

Uncertainty prevails around future RAM pricing, with potential influences like OpenAI’s changing purchasing plans and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East possibly affecting supply chains and demand.
