The success of Ready or Not was undeniable, with its over-the-top action and twisted humor. The 2019 film became a standout hit, renowned for its explosive ending. Now, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett reunite with screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, and lead actress Samara Weaving, for the sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. This new installment promises to be bigger and bloodier, featuring a star-studded cast including Kathryn Newton, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, Shawn Hatosy, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Expect a thrilling battle that will take the audience on a rollercoaster of shock and laughter.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a direct continuation from Ready or Not.

The sequel kicks off where the original left off, at the smoldering Le Domas mansion. Grace Le Domas has survived the fatal game organized by her Satan-worshipping in-laws. However, the chaos isn’t over. Barely out of the hospital, Grace finds herself entangled with her estranged sister Faith and a detective investigating the mansion’s deaths, alongside a new group of rich cultists vying for power. Elijah Wood plays a bemused lawyer who introduces new rules: survive another deadly game of hide-and-seek to become the cult’s leader, or perish at the hands of rival families.

Double the danger, double the drama.

The backstory of Grace is further explored with the introduction of Faith, though it’s somewhat clichéd. Kathryn Newton initially struggles with her sulking sister role but soon shines as she adapts to the film’s dangerous world where humans are hunted for sport. While Weaving channels intense energy reminiscent of Sigourney Weaver, Newton offers a feisty contrast. Together, they make a dynamic duo amidst the chaos.

Shawn Hatosy and Sarah Michelle Gellar add diabolical fun to the mix.

Hatosy and Gellar play villainous twins Ursula and Titus, driven by their father’s expectations. Alongside other wealthy and eccentric characters, they bring lively energy to the sequel. Gellar’s return to a sinister role exudes an iconic rich-girl aura, while Hatosy balances brute strength with a menacing charm. Their chemistry adds an extra thrill.

Ready or Not 2 raises the stakes.

Radio Silence delivers a more intense experience compared with the original. While maintaining the grisly fun, the film also embraces darker tones, with creative violence and shocking twists that grabbed attention during its SXSW premiere. Although the ending may divide audiences, it demonstrates bold storytelling choices that deviate from the original’s formula.

Despite its challenges, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come offers an entertaining ride full of surprises, making it a worthwhile follow-up for fans of the first film.

The film opens in theaters March 20.
