Rebel Audio: A New AI Podcasting Tool for First-Time Creators

There’s a moment many have experienced: chatting with a friend, the conversation is lively, laughter shared, insightful thoughts exchanged. Suddenly, someone says, “We should start a podcast.”

Typically, this idea fades as quickly as it arises. Not because it’s a bad idea, but due to the complexities of podcast creation—recording setups, editing software, and promotion often present a significant barrier to entry.

Rebel Audio, a new platform, aims to bridge this gap.

Rebel Audio presents itself as an all-in-one podcasting solution for beginner and nascent creators. The concept is straightforward: Instead of managing multiple tools, subscriptions, and workflows, creators can build their show, record, edit, add cover art, create transcripts, clip content for social media, and publish—all within the platform.

Earlier this month, Rebel Audio launched a private beta with a waitlist and secured $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed round, indicating investor confidence in streamlining podcast creation. An official launch to the public is set for May 30.

The timing aligns with the podcasting boom, with the industry projected to hit $114.5 billion by 2030. Riverside reports that more than 584 million people listened to podcasts in 2025, with forecasts suggesting 619 million by 2026.

Competitors like Spotify for Creators offer similar all-in-one services with hosting, video uploads, audience tools, analytics, and monetization through ads and subscriptions. However, Rebel Audio claims none provide a full “360-degree” creation suite as their platform does. Other popular competitors include Riverside, Adobe Audition, and Descript.

Monetization is central to Rebel Audio’s offer. Rather than deferred revenue, monetization is integrated from the start. Creators can access advertising, brand partnerships, dynamic ad insertion, and listener subscriptions directly in the platform.

AI is a significant component of Rebel Audio’s experience.

The platform features an AI assistant for generating show names and descriptions, suggesting ideas, and producing concept-based cover art. There are also AI-powered transcription, dubbing, and translation capabilities, as well as voice cloning for ad reads.

However, developing an AI-centered podcasting platform may attract criticism.

AI-generated images and voice cloning remain sensitive topics in the creative sector. Concerns about training data, originality, and ownership persist, making some creators cautious of these tools, which blur traditional lines. Streaming services like Spotify and Deezer have addressed issues related to low-quality, AI-generated content, sometimes labeled “AI slop.”

Rebel Audio assures TechCrunch that it employs safeguards to address these issues. Voice cloning is optional and requires confirmation of rights to use a voice, while the platform includes defenses to prevent deepfake content. Additionally, its AI-generated cover art tools are equipped with moderation systems to block inappropriate or non-compliant images, especially those that might violate distribution platform guidelines.

Rebel Audio was created in collaboration with AI consulting firm Lattice Partners.

The company’s leadership brings substantial industry expertise. Founder Jared Gutstadt previously established Audio Up in 2020. Rebel Audio will transition Audio Up’s catalog to the platform, which includes shows with notable personalities like Machine Gun Kelly, Anthony Anderson, Dennis Quaid, Jason Alexander, and Luke Wilson.

The team includes veterans from companies like MGM and DreamWorks, and Mark Burnett has joined as an advisor. Burnett is known for producing “Survivor,” “The Voice,” and “Shark Tank.”

The platform’s pricing is tiered, starting with a basic plan ($15/month) offering AI-assisted production, hosting, and distribution to major platforms, a Plus plan ($35/month) including video hosting and voice cloning for ad reads, up to a Pro package ($70/month) featuring dynamic ad insertion, listener subscriptions, translation, and dubbing.
