Honda is canceling three U.S.-bound models. At CES 2024 and CES 2025, Honda showcased some electric vehicle concepts with a sleek retro aesthetic, including the Honda 0 Series Saloon and SUV. The idea was to release these cars in 2026. However, Honda announced it would cancel the development and market launch of both models and the electric Acura RSX, incurring $15.7 billion in restructuring costs. Honda cited a declining demand for EVs as the reason for this decision. The company also pointed to challenges such as tariffs and failure to balance resources to remain competitive in Asia. The statement highlighted how the shift in consumer preference towards software-based features has intensified competition from newer EV manufacturers with advanced technologies. Honda will focus on hybrid vehicles for now and will introduce new EV models based on market trends and profitability.
