The company has unveiled a lineup of new video doorbells, including a 4K model and three 2K models, starting at $80. Ring introduced battery-powered 2K and 4K doorbell cameras with the Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro 2nd Gen at $249.99, featuring 4K video and 10x zoom; the Battery Video Doorbell Plus 2nd Gen at $179.99, offering 2K video and 6x zoom; and the Battery Video Doorbell 2nd Gen at $99.99, equipped with 2K video and a built-in battery. These models are available for pre-order and will be released on April 29th. Additionally, an updated Wired Video Doorbell 2nd Gen priced at $79.99 includes 2K video capabilities. The battery-powered doorbells deliver improved video quality, transitioning from the previous 1080p HD to 4K and 2K resolutions through a “redesigned internal architecture” that enhances power efficiency and supports AI features. The enhanced video quality enables clearer images, complementing Ring’s new AI features, such as Retinal Vision for video optimization, and comes with a free trial of Ring AI Pro, a $19.99 monthly subscription offering access to recorded video and the latest AI features. Features include video descriptions, Familiar Faces facial recognition, AI-powered searches for specific events in footage, and Single Event Alerts to streamline notifications. The new models aim to minimize notification fatigue and provide quicker access to essential information. Despite concerns about cloud processing of video, Ring offers an alternative with solar accessories that prolong battery life, including the Ring Solar Charger and Solar Panel priced at $49.99 and $59.99, respectively. Available for pre-order on Amazon, the new products launch on April 29th.
