Roblox has introduced a new AI-driven feature that modifies chat messages on its platform in real-time to replace or rephrase banned terms. This new system goes beyond merely replacing prohibited words with hashtags, striving instead to convert them into more respectful language while preserving the original intent. For example, if a user types “Hurry TF up!” the AI changes it to “Hurry up!” and notifies chat participants of the rephrasing to maintain civility. Unlike Minecraft, which substitutes banned words with symbols or blocks these messages, Roblox’s system actively rewords them. Currently, this feature is available for players who have completed age verification and are chatting with peers in similar age groups within “in-experience” interactions. Roblox began implementing age verification for chat features last month, allowing users within specific age brackets to communicate with each other.
