**EssilorLuxottica Reports Impressive Quarterly Revenue Driven by Ray-Ban Meta Sales**
EssilorLuxottica, a prominent figure in the smart glasses arena and the owner of acclaimed brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley, has revealed its quarterly financial performance, demonstrating a revenue increase that exceeded expectations. The firm recorded a 7.3% growth in revenue, outpacing analyst predictions of 5.9% as reported by Bloomberg. Nonetheless, when adjusted for present exchange rates, the revenue growth was a more tempered 3.2%, underscoring the impact of a stronger euro and weaker foreign currencies on global sales.
A major factor contributing to this revenue surge has been the remarkable sales performance of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which experienced sales more than tripling in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2024. This increase suggests a rising consumer interest in smart eyewear, especially as new features driven by artificial intelligence (AI) are rolled out.

The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which have been on the market since October 2023, have recently undergone software updates that incorporate cutting-edge features like live translation. These improvements are likely fostering the increased uptake of smart glasses among consumers.
The momentum in the smart glasses sector is not confined to EssilorLuxottica. Rivals are also entering the market, with Alibaba recently launching its Quark AI Glass, scheduled for release later this year. Tech titans Google and Apple are allegedly working on their own smart eyewear, although Apple’s launch timeline might extend to 2027, as noted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Meta continues to broaden its partnership with EssilorLuxottica, recently announcing the Oakley x Meta smart glasses. In addition, the company is developing the Orion AI Glasses, which will feature a display. Reports indicate that Meta aims to incorporate a display into its Ray-Ban glasses by the latter half of 2025, though specific details are still scarce.
