Great news for Galaxy smartphone users as details emerge regarding the Galaxy AI paywall.
Samsung introduced its Galaxy AI alongside the Galaxy S24 series, and since then, all its groundbreaking features have been available at no cost. There were whispers that by late 2025, Samsung might begin charging for this AI feature set. Nevertheless, recent updates dispel these speculations.
The South Korean technology leader confirmed to Android Police that all default Galaxy AI functionalities provided on your Galaxy device will stay free.
This recent news undoubtedly clarifies the lingering questions surrounding the Galaxy AI features and their free availability duration. Despite an “end of 2025” timeframe mentioned, Samsung has not elaborated on future plans during any of this year’s recent Unpacked events.
This indicates that the Galaxy AI functionalities, including Live Translate, Note Assist in Samsung Notes, Zoom Nightography, Audio Eraser, Browsing Assist, Generative Wallpapers, and several others provided by default on Galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy S25 series, will continue to be free, which is quite optimistic.
Conversely, Google offers advanced functionalities with paywalls, such as Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions. There are certain Gemini features that are also available for free, which would apply to Galaxy smartphones.
However, at the recent launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, the search giant revealed several exciting new Gemini features designed for the foldables and Galaxy Watch 8 series. Google announced that both foldables would enjoy access to the Google AI Pro subscription for six months at no charge. This subscription is based on Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro and includes the latest Veo 3 Fast.
It is reassuring to see Samsung not imposing any paywalls yet for the favored Galaxy AI features they provide, and we anticipate that this will continue in the future.
