Not all phones have experienced a favorable April.

Essential information

  • Insiders claim that Samsung is reaching out to suppliers to initiate a boost in Galaxy S26 production; one model is reportedly excluded.
  • The Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to increase by 200,000 units (totaling 1.5 million in April), while the standard S26 will rise by 500,000 units (1.3 million overall for April).
  • Additional reports suggest that Samsung is reducing the S26 Plus production for April by 100,000 units, along with a few mid-tier models.

There were rumors of the Galaxy S26 series shattering pre-order records; however, a new trend indicates the company is ramping up production.

As of today (April 9), ZDNet Korea has revealed that Samsung will instruct its suppliers to boost Galaxy S26 production this April (as reported by SamMobile). Sources from the publication indicate that Samsung is attempting to catch up after receiving an unexpected number of S26 orders in March. It has been reported that Samsung aims to escalate production of the Galaxy S26 Ultra by 200,000 units; nevertheless, the Galaxy S26 could see its largest increase of 500,000 units.

This would elevate the Ultra’s April totals to 1.5 million, while the S26 would rise to 1.3 million. The absent product here is the Galaxy S26 Plus, which is less intriguing due to Samsung apparently scaling back. Sources indicate that the S26 Plus is being reduced by 100,000 units, placing its April figures at around 200,000.

While this may seem like positive news for Samsung’s flagship devices, the report suggests that this won’t continue for long (and not every phone is thriving).

Reportedly, Samsung’s significant April expansion to satisfy demand might see it easing off a bit for the S26 series in May. Furthermore, Samsung may reduce production by a few hundred thousand units for its mid-range Galaxy A57 and A17.

The Galaxy S26 has been active

It is quite clear what has driven such a robust performance for the Galaxy S26 Ultra: the Privacy Display. In March, there were rapid reports highlighting the overwhelming popularity of the S26 series pre-orders in South Korea. The Galaxy S26 Ultra leads the way, owing to its Privacy Display, capturing approximately 70% of the market share. However, there’s more to the story. Samsung has provided the most upgrades to the Ultra this year, including enhanced cameras, a slimmer design, and a more user-friendly build, all at the same price point as the S25 Ultra.

What isn’t surprising is the lack of appeal of the S26 Plus. This model occupies a space between the base version and the Ultra but lacks the new exciting features. This year, the S26 Plus received the least number of enhancements, aside from the revised camera layout. Additionally, consumers might lean towards the S26 for its compact dimensions,
