Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus have been described as offering similar features for a higher price, and Samsung has confirmed that the rising costs are partly due to a memory shortage termed “RAMageddon.” Won-Joon Choi from Samsung stated that the memory shortage significantly contributed to the price increase. The Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are priced $100 more than their predecessors, with the S26 now offering 256GB of storage. The S26 Ultra includes new features like a privacy screen and enhanced cooling. Qualcomm warned that the phone industry faces a major impact from this memory shortage. IDC predicts a 12.9 percent decline in smartphone shipments worldwide in 2026, attributing it to the widespread effects of the memory supply chain crisis.
