Sony Enhances NFL Sidelines with Updated Coach Headsets

Sony has joined forces with the NFL to develop a bespoke headset for coaches, which will be utilized by all 32 teams commencing in the 2025 season. These headsets have been subjected to extensive testing, including exposure to stadium sounds exceeding 100 decibels, extreme weather conditions, falls, and perspiration. Incorporating noise-canceling technology from Sony’s WH-1000XM6 headphones, the headsets ensure clear communication even in loud settings. The microphone is engineered to filter out sideline noise and automatically mutes when tilted upwards. The headsets will make their first appearance at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on July 31, 2025, and will be employed throughout both the preseason and regular season. Insights from coaches will shape future iterations. This initiative is part of Sony’s continuous partnership with the NFL aimed at advancing technology in the sport, alongside other innovations such as Hawk-Eye for officials and enhanced visual systems.
