Spotify Premium users on Windows can now enjoy bit-perfect playback with the new “Exclusive Mode” feature, which is expected to arrive on Mac later. This mode allows the Spotify app to take full control of audio processing, preventing the computer from altering the audio by resampling, mixing system sounds, or changing volume, thus ensuring “Bit Perfect playback.” Currently, it’s exclusive to Windows Spotify Premium users, but a Mac version is forthcoming. To activate it, navigate to the “Playback” settings in the Windows app, select the audio device, and toggle on “Exclusive Mode.” Note that other apps’ audio and Spotify features like automix and crossfade won’t function when this mode is enabled. Users have requested bit-perfect playback similar to Tidal and Amazon Music, and Spotify recently introduced a lossless audio option offering slight improvements over its high-quality settings.
