Spotify Now Lets You Disable All Videos

1 Min Read

Global controls are being introduced to prevent videos from playing alongside music and podcasts. Spotify is implementing new settings to block video playback within the app for both music and podcasts. These settings are available globally, across all platforms and devices, and Family Plan managers can restrict video content for every subscription member.

The controls, not yet available on my UK account or devices, will appear under “Content and display” settings on mobile devices or “Display” settings on desktop. A new toggle will join the existing option to block Canvas clips — short, looping videos Spotify introduced in 2019. This new control will disable access to music videos and another will block all other videos, including podcasts and vertical videos.

Family Plan managers can apply these controls to individual plan members, similar to other managed account settings. When video controls are turned off at the plan level, users cannot access video versions of songs or podcasts.
