States’ anti-monopoly case against Live Nation continues Monday

They are still pursuing broader changes and damages beyond what the DOJ settlement achieved. The Live Nation-Ticketmaster trial resumes, with many states expected to proceed with monopoly claims against the company on Monday, after a brief Friday hearing. While the Justice Department and several states accepted settlements, most of the 40 state and district attorney general plaintiffs continue in court. These states withdrew a mistrial motion and introduced new counsel. The judge allowed evidence, including chats where Live Nation staff bragged about overcharging fans, despite company objections. Six states have either reached or are nearing DOJ-like agreements with Live Nation, and South Carolina remains in negotiation. The trial continues with AEG COO Jay Marciano’s testimony, and evidence includes Slack messages criticizing fan fees. Live Nation attempted to exclude the exhibits, stating they were informal and irrelevant, but the judge ruled them admissible. The trial proceeds Monday morning.
