T-Mobile’s Updated Billing Policy Removes Discounts for Credit Card Customers

**T-Mobile Closes the Door on a Convenient Autopay Discount Trick**

T-Mobile has officially terminated a widely used loophole that enabled customers to enjoy a $5-per-line AutoPay discount while still utilizing a credit card for payments. Effective October 24, 2025, the carrier’s revised billing logic ensures that the discount applies exclusively when payments are processed through a debit card or bank account.

Previously, astute subscribers could activate AutoPay with an eligible payment method yet pay their bills in advance with a credit card, consequently enjoying both the discount and credit card benefits. The latest change seals this loophole, and customers employing ineligible payment methods will forfeit their discount for that billing cycle.

T-Mobile started excluding credit cards from AutoPay eligibility in 2023, but the technical loophole remained until now. Affected users will receive text alerts regarding the cancellation of their discount for the forthcoming billing period.

To maintain the discount, customers must use a debit card or bank account and refrain from early credit card payments. For multi-line plans, the removal of the discount can result in considerable monthly expense increases. T-Mobile has not provided any indication of plans to reinstate credit card eligibility for AutoPay discounts.
