Qualcomm is preparing to unveil its upcoming flagship System on Chip (SoC), the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is said to offer notable performance improvements. A source on Weibo reports that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has completed performance evaluations, achieving remarkable scores exceeding 4,000 in single-core tests and over 11,000 in multi-core tests, outpacing its predecessor. The chip is projected to feature a 5.0GHz Prime core and may be launched sooner than expected, potentially by the end of September.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is rumored to incorporate the Adreno 840 GPU, indicating superior performance in graphics processing. This new SoC is set to drive the next generation of flagship devices, building upon the achievements of the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite, which featured Oryon CPU cores. There is speculation surrounding the addition of “enhanced Pegasus” cores and a possible change in core architecture, likely retaining the two Prime cores and six performance cores configuration.
As Qualcomm gets ready to release the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, it is yet to be determined how its pricing will be structured, given the premium characteristics of its predecessor. The arrival of this chip could signify a major advancement in mobile processing capabilities, paving the way for the next generation of high-performance smartphones.
