Creative director Remy Siu discusses “Prove You’re Human,” the next major project from his studio Sunset Visitor. After finishing their successful debut “1000xResist,” the team was keen to address current societal themes. In 2024, they were particularly drawn to artificial intelligence. Today, Sunset Visitor announces their second game, a narrative adventure titled “Prove You’re Human,” soon to be released on Steam with no set date. Players assume the role of Santana, employed by a tech company nearing the achievement of AGI, with the task of convincing the AI, Mesa, of its non-human nature. The game is set in a “Severance”-like universe where Santana’s consciousness is divided; she interacts with Mesa digitally while creating real-world CAPTCHAs. The development of “Prove You’re Human” did not employ AI tools; instead, research involved studying AI usage through YouTube and classic sci-fi. Siu mentions the importance of staying true to timeless themes beyond the rapid changes in AI development. The small development team prioritizes narrative depth, enlisting talents like Nhi Do and collaborating with Black Tabby Games as their publisher. Black Tabby’s cofounders Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias have provided guidance throughout development, inspiring them to enter publishing. The game intends to join and contribute to the storied tradition of AI narratives, drawing from works such as “Pantheon,” “Frankenstein,” and “Pinocchio” to craft a narrative relevant in today’s context. Writer Natalie Checo highlights the challenge of portraying AI uniquely, emphasizing a contemporary take relevant to 2026.
