Between 2025’s “Happy Gilmore 2” and the Owen Wilson-led Apple TV series “Stick,” golf comedies are in the spotlight. Now, Netflix and Will Ferrell are joining the fun with their upcoming series “The Hawk.”
Creator Ferrell stars as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, who was the world’s top golfer in 2004 but has since fallen from glory. His son Lance (played by Jimmy Tatro) has become golf’s new hero, while his ex-wife Stacy (Molly Shannon) thinks Lonnie’s golfing career is over. Yet, Lonnie aims for the greatest comeback in golf history: just one more major win to complete his Grand Slam and secure his legacy.
Hawk’s journey to success requires help from Lance, Stacy, Lance’s fiancĂ©e Natalie (Katelyn Tarver), and new caddy Sam (Fortune Feimster). However, he must also contend with rivals like fellow golfer Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson), PGA Tour board member Anton (Chris Parnell), and Stacy’s new boyfriend Radford (David Hornsby).
Netflix’s first teaser for “The Hawk” showcases Ferrell’s golfing prowess. Additionally, two more teasers are available on Instagram, giving viewers a chance to meet Lonnie. “The Hawk” premieres this summer on Netflix.
