Dutch regulators, the RDW, have officially approved Tesla’s Full-Self Driving (FSD) Supervised after over a year and a half of testing, making the Netherlands the first European country to authorize its use. This sets the stage for wider EU adoption. Tesla’s European headquarters is in Amsterdam, emphasizing the significance of this approval. The RDW noted that using driver assistance systems correctly enhances road safety by supporting the driver, functioning as a supplementary system with continuous monitoring making it safer than other systems. FSD Supervised version 2026.3.6 is starting to roll out to select users in the Netherlands who must watch a tutorial and complete a quiz before use, reminding them that it doesn’t make the vehicle autonomous. In the US, Tesla’s FSD has encountered challenges, including a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that might lead to a recall, despite a separate probe recently concluding.
